Framingham Indoor Track & Field Opens Season Against Newton North

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High boys indoor track team will open its season Thursday against the Tigers of Newton North at the Reggis Lewis Center in Boston.

There are four seniors on the team.

“We have a collection of hurdlers and incoming sprinters that I think are going to be medal winners at the indoor D1 relays,” said head coach Christ Collins. “They work too hard to fail.”

The team was 1-3 last season.

There are five captains for the indoor season. They are senior Brad Bogovich, senior Zach Blumer, junior Ryan Maliewski, senior Matt Hom (12th), and senior Alex Thurber.

Bogovich is an Eagle Scout, a 12-season athlete, said Coach Collins.

Blumer “is already helping to coach middle school track at Walsh in its development programs.”

Maliewski “has set up several gear websites and recruited numerous athletes into our program.”

Hom is a 12-season athlete was a captain for cross-country.

Thurber was a 12-season athlete and cross-country captain.

Due to busing issues, Coach Collins said the Flyers are sending a small portion of the team for the season opener.
