Framingham Mayor Nominates 3 Individuals To Fair Housing Committee

FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer nominated three individuals to the Framingham Fair Housing Committee.

All three individuals were nominated for a 3-year term to end June 30, 2022.

The Mayor submitted the three names to the 11-member City Council on November 13. The Council has 30 days to approve or reject the nominees.

Nominated were:

  • Timothy Hamilton, a District 8 resident
  • Brianne Hansen, a District 3 resident
  • John Joseph, a District 7 resident

The Fair Housing Committee works to promote access to decent, safe and affordable housing for all segments of the community to the maximum extent feasible.

The Fair Housing Committee accomplishes this through the study of issues, public education and advocacy.

“The Committee is comprised of 13 members. Four members are ex-officio appointments for 1-year terms and represent the Human Relations Commission, the Community and Economic Development Department, the Planning Board and the Framingham Housing Authority. The nine other members should be broadly representative of segments of the community, active and interested in the housing market,” according to the City’s website.

This is the Committee’s membership as of July 1, 2019:

Editor’s Note: Nathalie Jean has been on administrative leave from her city position since August.

Hansen in her application said she is a “hard worker and an experienced researcher. I recently graduated with a degree in Economics, meaning I have a strong understanding of markets and market failures. I also interned with Downtown Framingham Inc., which gave me insight into some opinions Framingham residents have concerning housing .”

Joseph wrote in his application, ” I am a resident of 15 years. I can contribute with planning, strategic ideas, and financial responsibility.”

Hamilton in his application wrote, ” The only way that I can afford to live in downtown Framingham is in SMOC Housing. I have remained in downtown Framingham because for most of the past 30 years I have lived in ethnic and multiethnic neighborhoods.”

He has a MA in political science. He has lived in downtown Framingham for 11 years and is a very active volunteer at the Literacy Center in the Library as an ESL tutor.
