FRAMINGHAM – A.C. Moore Arts and Crafts stores nationwide will soon close, although some stores may re-open as Michaels craft stores.
New Jersey-based Nicole Crafts announced today, November 25, it will close all 140 A.C. Moore stores across the country.
There is an A.C. Moore in Shoppers World in Framingham.
“For over 30 years, our stores have been servicing the creative community with a vast selection of art and craft materials, with one common focus, the customer,” A.C. Moore’s CEO Anthony Piperno said in a statement. “Plans for closing specific A.C. Moore locations will be shared in the upcoming weeks on our website.”
Michaels Companies Inc. will assume leases for up to 40 store locations, according to a statement.
“We are looking forward to re-opening these stores under the Michaels name in 2020 and welcoming new team members,” said Michaels CEO Mark Cosby, in a statement.
No date was announced for the closures of the A.C. Moore Stores.
There is a Michaels craft store on Route 9 and earlier this year Hobby Lobby craft stores announced it would open a location in Shoppers World in Framingham.
