FRAMINGHAM – At the New England Scholastic Band Associaton championship this weekend, the Framingham High marching band captured a platinum medal with their score of 95.80.
The Flyers, however, finished in second place as Shepherd Hill Regional took first with a score of 96.60.
The Framingham High marching band also took awards for best music and best drum major.
The drum major is Framingham High student Brooke Hirsch.
The Framingham High School marching band is under the direction of Andrew Jasinski.
This year’s show features music from the TV show and movie The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.
Seven marching bands competed in Division 3 with Framingham High. Westbrook Blue Blazes finished third with 93.30 points.
Melrose High was 4th with 92.60 points and new Bedford High’s Whaler Marching band was fifth with 92.60 points.
Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay, a former music teacher, who has marched with the band at both flag day parades, attended the competition. Framingham High Principal Carolyn Banach was also at the weekend competition.
