The following is a press release from the League of Women Voters in Framingham.
FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham League of Women Voters and MetroWest Daily News are hosting a candidate forum on Monday, October 28 from 6:00 – 8:30 pm in the Costin Room at the Framingham Library, 49 Lexington Street.
Candidates appearing on the November ballot for District Councilor in District 8 and At Large will be participating.
Those candidates are:
District 8 City Council: Mario Alvazrez and John Stefanini.
At-Large Council: George King, Janet Leombruno, and Gloria Pascual.
The moderator for this event will be Marlene O’Brien from the League of Women Voters.
Questions from residents are welcome and encouraged. Please send those questions via email to email@example.com . We will be taking written question from the audience at the event as time allows. We often have more questions than we have time to ask them, so we cannot guarantee all questions submitted will be asked.
“This is an important election as 7 of the 11 District Council seats are in play. Our goal with these candidate forums is to give residents an opportunity to see candidates respond to question they have not seen in advance, showcasing how the candidates think on their feet, an important skill for elected officials to have. We solicit questions from residents prior to these events, as well as taking written questions at these events. We always have far more questions than we can ask in the allotted time, and urge
residents to directly send their questions to candidates if we do not have the time to get to their question during the forum. An informed electorate is critical to the success of democracy, and local elections impact decisions in our own community,” said Stephanie Deeley, president of the League of Women Voters of Framingham.
District 8 City Council candidates will start the event at 6:00 pm6 p.m., followed by At Large City Council candidates at approximately 7:10 p.m.
This event is being taped for broadcast at a later date on Access
This is the last of 4 forums held for all contested District Council races.
