FRAMINGHAM – The Rockets of Needham handed the Framingham high boys soccer team only its second loss of the season.
The Rockets defeated the Flyers 3-1.
Framingham is now 11-2-5 overall. The Flyers have already qualified for post-season play.
The Flyers ranked among the top 20 teams in the state.
“The Rockets capitalized on two early mistakes by the Flyers and put the game away in the second half,’ said coach Jon Wood.
The Framingham goal was scored by senior Chris Lopez. on a beautiful shot from the left side, said Wood.
“Junior captain Nick Matias and junior midfielder Anderson Cardona played excellent and really controlled the pace of the game,” said Wood.
Framingham will next compete in the 24th Annual George Wheeler Memorial Cup game in Natick on Saturday.
Natick hosts this year. Game at 1:30 p.m. at Natick High.
