FRAMINGHAM – I write this letter to endorse Gloria Pascual’s candidacy for Framingham City Councilor at Large.
Although I have resided in Framingham for 32 years, I have only come to know Pascual over the past year vis-a-vis the work that she has done to promote equity across the Framingham schools.
I have been duly impressed by her courage, forthrightness and sense of urgency. She is a leader who centers equity and social justice above all else. These qualities are paramount in an individual who represents us in government.
As a nation, we are facing trying times, and Framingham is not immune to hate. As of late, we have witnessed public displays of anti-Semitism and racism, and these acts are not isolated. They occur daily, yet not all are picked up by the news.
As a city, we require a champion who will fight on behalf of all of Framingham’s citizens, but most of all, its most marginalized. Ms. Pascual is that individual.
Framingham is in dire need of balanced representation. In particular, our city can only benefit by the leadership of a Latina who herself has fought and persevered through numerous battles and inequities to rise to her current standing, which includes attainment of a Master’s degree in Applied Sociology and a seat on the Framingham School Committee where she serves as Vice-Chairperson.
Given Ms. Pascual’s unique ability to listen and more importantly, to understand the dilemmas of underserved residents of Framingham, she is poised to fill a current gap. She is anxious to bring her expertise to all sectors of the city as a whole, but most of all, to those who feel unheard and unheeded.
Pascual is the only candidate for City Councilor at Large who resides south of route nine, and who can best prioritize the needs of her neighbors.
As Councilor at Large, Pascual will continue to fight for truth and transparency. Moreover, she will persist in challenging injustices large and small, and will continue building her stellar legacy, which will in turn benefit of all of us.
I urge you to vote in Framingham’s election on November 5, and when you do, to elect Gloria Pascual as Council at Large.
