Brockton Defeats Grade 8 Framingham Flyers 28-16

BROCKTON – The 6th grade Framingham Flyers football team traveled to Brockton’s Marciano Stadium over the weekend.

The first quarter was uneventful for the Flyers other than Jacob Fritz was able to intercept a pass thrown by Brockton’s quarterback.

The second quarter started off with a bang when on fourth down.

Brockton got an offsides penalty which gave the Flyers one more chance and they were able to push their runner forward for a first down. 

Willard Claude and Max Stevelman were able to run the ball down the field  before Claude jogged it into the end zone for a touchdown.  Wendell Oquendo’s kick was good so the score was 8-0 Framingham. 

Brockton then managed to score on a series of runs and had a successful kick tying up the score, 8-8. 

Brockton was able to score another touchdown followed by a blocked kick bringing the score to 14-8 Brockton. 

The Flyers had a few successful plays between Max Stevelman and Willard Claude, including Claude faking a pass and getting a terrific run but failed to convert on the 10-yard line.

In the third quarter, Brockton kept the ball for almost the entire quarter, converting multiple 4th downs and finally scoring, bringing the score to 20-8.

Brockton scored a touchdown on the 1st play of the fourth quarter and had a good kick bringing the score to 28-8. 

Willard Claude was able to recover a bad snap and ran all around the field, finally managing to get it into the end zone.  Oquendo had a successful kick ending the game with a score of 28-16.

The 8th grade team will have their final regular-season game next week at Bowditch Field.
