Police: Man, 57, Swung Folding Chairs at Woman At Cushing Memorial Park

FRAMINGHAM – Police were called to Cushing Memorial Park Saturday afternoon for a report of an assault.

When police officers arrived at the park, just after 2:30 p.m. a woman said a man tried to hit her with folding chairs, according to police.

A man was at the park on October 5 with two pet carriers. Inside one was a rabbit and inside the other was a cat, according to the police report.

The man placed the carriers down and started to walk away from then. Two women accused the man of abandoning the animals.

The man started yelling at the two women, he was not abandoning the animals.

The man started “wildly swinging two folding chairs,” at one of the women, said Framingham Police Lt. Patricia Grigas.

He was yelling, and screaming, and swinging the chairs, but did not strike anybody, she said.

No one was injured, but one person was arrested.

Police arrested at 3:05 p.m. at Cushing memorial Park Kenneth Ballou, 57, of 27 Fenway Drive in Framingham.

He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon.

Framingham Animal Control has the rabbit and the cat in their possession.
