FRAMINGHAM – September 24 is National Voter Registration Day.
The League of Women Voters of Framingham plans events to register voters at events throughout Framingham
The League of Women Voters of Framingham will host National Voter Registration Day 2019 events throughout Framingham on Tuesday, September 24, as part of a massive 50-state effort to register thousands of voters.
Voter registration events will be held at the following places:
The Callahan Senior Center from 10 a.m. to noon
The main Framingham Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon
Framingham High School from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
McAuliffe Library from 2 to 4 p.m.
The Brazilian-American Center (BRACE) from 4 to 6 p.m.
The goal for the 2019 National Voter Registration Day is to increase participation by encouraging Americans to register to vote and come out to the polls this November.
“Voting is every citizen’s right and duty,” said League of Women Voters of Framingham President Stephanie Deeley. “As we just are approaching the 100th anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which gave women the right to vote, we are reminded of how hard many have fought for this right. Today, registering to vote is easy, quick, and well worth the few minutes it takes.”
As a nonpartisan unofficial national holiday, National Voter Registration Day counts on thousands of partners and volunteers across the political spectrum.
Started in 2012 for the presidential election, National Voter Registration Day is designed to create an annual moment when the entire nation focuses on registering Americans to exercise their most basic right – the right to vote.
Americans can register at hundreds of events across the nation and online at www.NationalVoterRegistrationDay.org. Supporters can also follow National Voter Registration Day activities through social media on September 24th by searching #NationalVoterRegistrationDay.
