Avery Gets 400th Soccer Win; Framingham Defeats Waltham

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High boys soccer team defeated Waltham High in a non-league game on Thursday, September 19.

The final score was 4-0.

It was the 400th victory for head coach Dan Avery as a soccer coach.

In October 2015, Avery was inducted into the Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame. He has been the soccer coach for more than 3 dozen years, winning one state championship and qualifying for post-season tournament 30 times.

The Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Gabe Padilla and Anderson Cardona.

Second-half goals were scored by Gabe Teotonio and Ian Barney.

Senior goalies Jack Downey and captain Ben Oberg were excellent as they combined for the flyers third shutout of the season, said coach Jon Wood.

Framingham will host Lowell High in a non-league game on Saturday at 12:45 p.m.
