5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Friday, September 20, 2019

1 Temple Beth Sholom in Framingham will formally install Rabbi Allison Poirier as its new spiritual leader at a festive community service at the Temple tonight at 7.

2. FLYERS in action:

  • Framingham High girls swim & dive hosts Braintree at 4 p.m.
  • Flyers football at Braintree at 7 p.m.

3. Today is National Prisoner of War/Missing in Action POW/MIA day.  In Framingham, the 4th annual POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony will be held at the Vietnam Soldiers Statute at the MWRTA on Blandin Avenue at 6 p.m.

4. An special worship service will take place tonight at the Greater Framingham Community Church at 7:30.  “May We Forever Stand: Massachusetts Commemorates 400 years of Black Resiliency” will feature Bishop Claude Alexander of The Park Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Elder Terrance Haynes and the D.M.J United Voices of Praise Choir will lead the music. Rev. Dr. J. Anthony Lloyd will serve as host pastor.  Black Church leaders from across Massachusetts will lead the worship service and commemoration.  Elected officials and local leaders will bring greetings. 

5 According to the Mayor’s public schedule,  she plans to attend the event at the Greater Framingham Community Church.

Yesterday, she attended the groundbreaking for the new Irving Street Park and the ribbon cutting for the new water tanks.

She also spoke to the Sudbury Valley Trustees.
