Lawrence ‘Larry’ Garron Jr., 82, Boston Patriot, President of Roxbury Manufacturing, and Bunker Hill Community College Department Dean

FRAMINGHAM   Lawrence “Larry” Garron, Jr., 82, died Friday, September 13, 2019 in his home in Framingham.

Born in Marks, Mississippi, he was the oldest of 10 brothers and sisters. His family moved from Marks, Mississippi to Argo Illinois where he attended Argo High School.

Larry excelled as a stellar student/athlete and after graduating from Argo High School, Larry attended Western Illinois University.

Larry was the first of his family to attend college and would later be inducted into the Western Illinois University Hall of Fame.

After college, Larry was signed by the Boston Patriots as a halfback and is one of the original Patriots which started as a new AFL franchise in 1960. Larry’s career with the Patriots lasted from 1960 to 1968 and he was a five time All-Pro selection. 

After retiring from the Boston Patriots, Larry held many professional positions from store manager for A&P, President of Roxbury Manufacturing Corp, to Auxiliary Police Officer for the Framingham Police Department.

Larry returned to school at Cambridge College to earn his Master’s Degree in Education which led to his position with Bunker Hill Community College as its Dean of the Business and Marketing Department.

Larry’s passion was teaching martial arts. He opened his own studio called Buke-Dojo where he taught Hakkoryu-JujuTsu  for over 30 years. 

Larry was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, LaBerta Garron.

Larry remarried in 2006 to Evelyn (Nahme) (Dellasanta) Garron.

He is survived by his children: John Garron of Waltham, MA, Arnold Garron & wife Stacey of Bedford NH, Andre Garron & wife Cindy of Bedford NH and Dawn Dellasanta of Milford MA. His grandchildren: Andre Jr. “AJ” & his wife Kelsey, Jordan, Julianna, Arnold Jr. “PJ”, Zachary, Allessandra, Cheyenne, Olivia, Sophia, Maggie and Violet. Larry has 2 great grandchildren: Myia and Kaydence; his sisters: Verlean, Shirley (predeceased), and Brenda (predeceased) and brothers Troy and wife Marilyn, Donald and wife Pam, Norris, Chester, Solomon and Mickey (predeceased). 

Family and friends will honor and remember Larry’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Greater Framingham Community Church 44 Franklin St., Framingham on Thursday Sept. 19 from 5 to 9 pm.

His funeral service will be celebrated Friday morning Sept. 20 at 10 am in Greater Framingham Community Church.

Burial is private.
