Framingham Strategic and Financial Oversight Committee to Hold 2 Public Hearings

FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham’s Strategic Initiatives and Financial Oversight Committee (SIFOC) is holding two public hearings regarding the future of Framingham. 

As part of its mission outlined in the Framingham Home Rule Charter, SIFOC advises the Mayor, the Council and School Committee on Framingham’s long term planning.

Since the spring, SIFOC has met with members of Framingham’s government to discuss the issues facing Framingham and the strategic planning process. 

SIFOC welcomes residents to share their vision and ideas for Framingham’s strategic plan at public hearings on Monday, September 23 and Monday, October 7, both at 7 p.m.

Each hearing will focus on specific topics. 

The first hearing will take place Monday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. in Nevins Hall in the Memorial Building, 150 Concord Street. The topics for discussion are: 

  • Economic Development
  • Housing
  • Municipal Government Structure
  • Affordability

The second hearing will take place Monday, October 7th at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Framingham High School, 115A Street. The topics for discussion are:

  • Education
  • Environment & Sustainability 
  • Public Safety 
  • Transportation

In accordance with Framingham Home Rule Charter, Article VI, Section 11, the Strategic Initiatives and Financial Oversight Committee advises the mayor, council and school committee on the status of Framingham’s long range strategic plan in accordance with Article III, section 11(b), the state of the municipal economy, sufficiency of municipal revenues, and other fiscal matters that may from time to time be referred to it by the mayor, council or school committee. SIFOC will report annually to the mayor, council and school committee and shall file all of its reports with the City Clerk.

Membership is comprised of nine members, three appointed by the Mayor, three appointed by the Council and three appointed by the School Committee.
