FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay has hired an interim assistant director of secondary education for the 2019-2020 academic year as Kerry Wood serves as interim principal at Fuller Middle Schools.
Tremblay hired Haverhill’s Chief Academic Officer Darshan Thakkar, who is fluent in multiple languages, for the interim position.
“Thakkar brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Framingham Public Schools,” said Tremblay to SOURCE. “Thakkar has served as both a school and district administrator where he was responsible for student achievement and school accountability, curriculum development, and professional development through a data-focused lens.”
Prior to becoming an administrator, Thakkar started his career in education as a Math, History and ESL teacher.
Thakkar is an advocate for immigrant students and families, added Tremblay.
“In his former life, he was a practicing attorney who specialized in the civil rights of migrant families and educational rights of children,” said Tremblay.
Thakkar is a member of the National Language Service Corp (NLSC), providing translation services in three languages to U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
His first day of work is Monday, September 9.
His base salary is $107,927.90. Because he has a doctorate, he gets stipend $9,137, said Framingham Assistant Superintendent of Schools Inna London.
He has a B.S. in economics and chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He has a law degree from the Massachusetts School of Law.
