Woman, 22, Arrested After Crash With No License; Assaults Officers

FRAMINGHAM – A Framingham woman was arrested last night, September 4 after being involved in a crash, according to police.

Police arrested Mercedes Ortiz, 22, of 42 Freeman Street in Framingham on Beaver Terrace Circle just after 7 p.m.

Once on scene at the crash, police had to determine who the driver of the vehicle was as no driver was with the vehicle.

Ortiz told police the driver was her boyfriend, according to police.

She was swearing at people at the scene of the crash, too.

Police determined it was Ortiz, who was the driver.

Ortiz refused a sobriety test, said Lt. Jorge Ruiz.

Police officers then placed her under arrest.

She was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage, and operating a motor vehicle with no license.

While being placed under arrest, she struck one officer in the face four times and resisted arrest, explained Lt. Ruiz.

She also spit in a police officer’s face.

Ortiz was also charged with resisting arrest and multiple counts of assault and battery on a police officer.

She was scheduled to be arraigned in Framingham District Court on Friday.
