Natick Cultural Council Seeks Grant Applications

NATICK – Proposals for community-oriented arts, humanities, and science programs are due October 15, 2019.

The Natick Cultural Council has set an October 15 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and individuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the community.

These grants can support a variety of artistic projects and activities in Natick — including exhibits, festivals, field trips, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools, workshops and lectures. All applications will be considered but preference will be given to MetroWest-based artists and organizations which provide benefit to the Natick community.

The Natick Cultural Council is part of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural funding network in the nation,
supporting thousands of community-based projects in the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides an annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, which then allocates funds to each community.

This year, the Natick Cultural Council will distribute about $10,400 in grants.

Previously funded projects include: Metrowest Symphony Orchestra (Metrowest Symphony Orchestra), Natick Cultural Arts Committee
(Wheelock Theater Boston), Carol Krentzman (Smiling Faces), Natick Historical Society (The Story of American Song-The 1950s), and Women of Note Barbershop Chorus (Women of Note in Concert).

There will be a grant application information session hosted by the Natick Cultural Council on September 10, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Morse Institute Library, Study Room 1C. Members of the NCC will be available to answer questions and offer assistance. Applicants are encouraged to bring their application drafts.
