MassDOT: Franzese Appointed as Interim Director of the Merit Rating Board

BOSTON – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation today, August 22, announced Acting Registrar of Motor Vehicles Jamey Tesler has appointed Paolo Franzese as Interim Director of the Merit Rating Board.

Franzese will serve while a search is underway for a permanent Merit Rating Board Director.

Franzese will be on leave from his position as the Manager of Market Conduct for the Division of Insurance, where he managed processes ensuring compliance with Massachusetts insurance laws, interacted with insurers who needed regulatory intervention or oversight, and served as a liaison to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

He previously served as Prosecuting Counsel for the Division of Professional Licensure and Office of Public Safety, and has worked as a practicing attorney for nearly a decade in public and private capacities.

Franzese holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Sacred Heart University and a Juris Doctorate from the Massachusetts School of Law.
