Framingham Launching 6-Week Free Academy to Educate 20 Residents on the Workings of the City

The following was posted on the City’s website today, August 22.

FRAMINGHAM, MA – The City announced today, August 22, is it launching the first, free Framingham Government Academy (FGA) – a series of educational and interactive workshops guided by representatives from City departments to educate residents about a variety of municipal functions and increase their understanding of the community.

Framingham will host the Academy at various locations around the city.

Participants will learn directly from City leaders about the functions of each division with the goal being that when they complete the six-week academy, they better understand the functions of the municipality.

With this knowledge, participants will be better equipped to advance their neighborhoods and improve quality of life, and be prepared to serve on boards and commissions and engage in the decision-making processes.

Schedule and Participation Overview
FGA Fall session will begin September 5 and end November 14.

Classes will meet biweekly on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. (except for Week 5, which will meet on Wednesday evening). Residents interested in participating must apply and commit to attending all sessions.

Class size is limited to 20, and applicants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Applications must be received no later than Friday, August 30.
