5 Things You Need To Know Today in Framingham: Monday, August 19, 2019

1  Framingham Department of Public Works Director Peter Sellers and his team will be the featured speakers at the next Coburnville-Tripoli Neighborhood Association meeting.

The meeting is tonight at 7 at Braza Grill Union House on Route 135. All from the neighborhood are invited to attend to hear about upcoming road, water, sewer and other DPW projects scheduled for 2019 and 2020.

The Department of Public Works will also talk about water quality at Lake Waushakum and stormwater management with the neighborhood.

2. Members of the Class of 2020 at Framingham High School will be conducting tours for incoming freshman starting today. The tours are all week from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the high school. No appointment is needed.

3. Today is the deadline to apply for the 6th grade lottery for the Christa McAuliffe Charter School.

4.. CITY OF FRAMINGHAM meetings:

  • Framingham City Council’s appointment subcommittee has a meeting at 6 p.m. in the Blumer room at the Memorial Building
  • Cable Advisory Committee has a meeting at 7 p.m. in City Hall
  • Framingham School Building Committee has a meeting at 7 p.m. at Fuller Middle School
  • Framingham License Commission has a meeting at 7 p.m. in the Ablondi room in the Memorial Building.

According to the Mayor’s public schedule, Mayor Yvonne Spicer will hold private meetings with City Councilors this afternoon.

Yesterday, she attended a Moms Demand Action rally in Boston. It was not on her schedule.

5. Framingham Public Library is screening the movie Vice at 2 p.m. in the Costin room. Free.

The movie is about a bureaucratic Washington insider quietly becoming the most powerful man in the world as Vice-President and how he reshaped the country and the globe in ways that we still feel today. Starring Christian Bale as Dick Cheney and Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney.
