FRAMINGHAM – Helene (Player) Todd, 69 of Ashland passed away on August 15, 2019 at home after an illness.
Helene was born on March 10, 1950 and grew up in Framingham graduating from Framingham South High class of 1968.
She was the cherished daughter of the late Marjorie Player.
She is survived by her husband Richard “Dick” Todd, her daughter Brigette Todd of Grafton and her son Michael Todd (Nicole Esposito) of Framingham.
Helene also leaves, the lights of her life, 4 grandchildren Nicholas, Riley, Dominic and Bryce. She was the sister of Karen West (the late Wayne West) of Sandwich, Ma, Judy Flaherty (the late Rich “Flash” Flaherty) of Hopkinton, Ma and David Player (Bonnie) of Framingham. In addition to many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Helene earned her real estate license and started selling to the local community in the 1990’s most recently working for Coldwell Banker. She was a valued and admired salesperson always guiding her clients to the home best suited for them. A quality much appreciated by all she served.
Helene, with the love of her life, Dick wintered in their home in Lady Lake Fl., where they grew a large group of dear friends over the years. They enjoyed golf, cards, concerts on the common, and eating out as well as a late afternoon swim.
Come Spring, back in Ashland, she could frequently be found perusing yard sales, thrift shops, or an antique store looking for a good book, an interesting vase or a lovely piece of antique table linen.
The Summer months were filled with days at Helene’s house where all the people important to her; sisters, brothers, in-laws, kids, nieces and nephews dropped by for conversation, cards, backgammon, or scrabble game, to lounge at the pool, eat something yummy or perhaps just join in on the Todd happenings of the day.
A self described “glamour fashionista” she loved beautiful things. At her backyard pool she surrounded herself with a yard filled with colorful perennial and annual flowers; but most often in her endearing way she would coax others to do the planting for her.
Then came the Fall a time for prepping her four littles for back to school and when needed caring for them after school and of course attending sport, music, or any event the grand children had in store for her.
During the holidays she provided a gathering place for family then full circle back to Florida she went.
A girl for all seasons Helene will be remembered and truly missed by those who loved her.
Memorial calling hours will be held Sunday Aug. 18 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Matarese Funeral Home, 325 Main Street in Ashland.
