FRAMINGHAM – More than 100 boys and girls participated in the 4th Annual Unity & Pride Day basketball tournament in Framingham yesterday, August 11, at Mary Dennison Park.
Ronald Taylor started the event four years ago as a way to give back to the kids in the neighborhood and the community. The municipal government had closed the Danforth Building, which ended the youth basketball program. Taylor wanted a place for the kids to play, so he held the first-ever Pride & Unity tournament.
Four years, later and the number of participants has more than doubled.
“Basketball gives these kids something to do. There is not much for these kids in their neighborhood,” said Taylor, in an interview with the SOURCE a few weeks ago.
