FRAMINGHAM – – Mary I. Stucchi of Framingham passed away peacefully on July 20, 2019.
She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 66 years William J. “Bill” Stucchi, founder of Waverly Tool Rental & Sales Co., Inc. in Framingham, MA in 1960.
Mary graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Milford, MA in 1949.
She attended the Framingham Union Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1952. She worked for Medfield Hospital Infirmary for 3 months until recruited by Framingham Union Hospital to take the head nursing position for over 30 years.
She was a licensed instrument-rated airplane pilot, a licensed real estate broker and a registered hypnotist.
Second to her love and devotion to her family, contract bridge was her passion attaining an ACBL bronze life master in bridge traveling the U. S. with the Cavendish Club of Worcester.
And we can’t forget football, both college and professional. We all knew during football season that she would not answer the phone, especially when the Pat’s were playing.
She enjoyed spending summers at their Bartlett, NH home with family and friends. She was an avid reader keeping up with current events and anxiously waited for the daily newspaper that included the bridge game, crossword puzzle among other puzzles.
She loved to cook in the “Old World” Italian style taught by her mother Josephine, and her grandmother Linda (Fronda) Mazzaro, both teaching her that you must stir clockwise or the sauce would be ruined. Assisted by her daughters she would go all out over the holidays preparing 5-course meals, all from scratch, hosting up to 35 people as the family grew. Mary was an expert organizer having lists for every event right down to the minute. She had an exceptional eye for decorating, fashion styles and color combinations. She could put together the most elegant outfit for under a hundred dollars that could be used for several different occasions. She will be remembered as a generous, caring, loving mother and friend and will be deeply missed.
Mary was the loving and devoted Mother of Arthur F. Stucchi (Angela M. Gandolfo) of Southborough, Linda S. Stucchi (James V. Hounam) of Upton, William E. “Wes” Stucchi and Faith M. Currier, both of Framingham. Grandmother of April D. Eggers (Robert) of Pine Brook, NJ, Craig A. Stucchi (Shelly Wu) of Manchester, NH, Graham W. Lage and John W. Currier, Jr., both of Framingham, MA. Great-grandmother of Robert and Joseph Eggers of Pine Brook, NJ and Mila M. and Brooke E. Stucchi of Manchester, NH.
Mary was born in Framingham where she resided her entire life. She was the only child of Edward DiFranco and Josephine (Mazzaro) (DiFranco) Gibson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass at St. Tarcisius Church, 562 Waverly St. Framingham on August 10 at 10 a.m., under the direction of Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech Street in Framingham.
