FRAMINGHAM – There is only one candidate for the two Framingham Cemetery Trustee seats.
Two candidates pulled nomination papers, but only one candidate returned papers by the deadline today, July 30 at 5 p.m.
On the November ballot for the two seats will be incumbent Susan Silva.
The other seat now will need to be filled via a write-in campaign. The Framingham Cemetery Trustees are elected city-wide.
Joyce Hurley pulled papers to run for Cemetery Trustee, but never returned her nomination papers by the deadline, said City Clerk Lisa Ferguson.
There are five Framingham Cemetery Trustees, who serve 4-year terms, under the new City of Framingham Charter.
Two were up for election in 2019, and three in 2021.
Cemetery Trustees Peter Whiting, Dennis Cardiff, and George P King all have terms that end in 2021.
The Framingham Cemetery Trustees oversee Edgell Grove Cemetery, a 50-acre site listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
