Framingham Legion Opens Playoffs With Win Against Grafton Hill

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham legion baseball team opened up its playoffs Tuesday evening at Bowditch Field, with a 3-2 win against Grafton Hill. 

Brett Shapiro would go the distance on the mound pitching 7 innings, 8 hits, 6 strikeouts, 2 runs, 3 walks, and 3 hit batters. 

Framingham trailed 1-0 after the 4th inning of play but would tie the score up in the bottom of the 5th when Jack Mattarise hit a deep sacrifice fly to score Tommy Clark to tie the game at 1-1. 

Grafton Hill would hit a double and a single in the top of the 6th to take a 2-1 lead but Framingham would answer.

Brett Shapiro hit a one-hopper to the fence for a double and Ryan Urato blasted a single to tie the game up.

Michael Gavagan would walk with the bases loaded to give Framingham Legion the lead of 3-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning.

Shapiro would shut the door in the 7th after a fly out for the first out of the 7th the next batter hit a 2-2 slider dribbler in front of the plate and catcher Jake Laskosky would fire a bullet to first to get the second out of the inning. Shapiro would strike out the next batter to in the game. 

Framingham Legion will head to Leominster tomorrow, July 17 for a 5:30 p.m. game.
