FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Legion Baseball hosted Grafton Hill and Northbridge for a baseball doubleheader at Bowditch Field on Saturday afternoon.
In Saturday’s first game vs. Grafton Hill, Framingham scored first in the bottom of the 1st inning after Nick Seeto scored on a fieldiers choice to take a 1-0 lead.
In the 3rd inning Ryan Urato singled home Brett Shapiro and later scored to extend the lead 3-0.
Chris Kelly went 2-2 and started a fourth-inning rally, while Tommy Clarke went 3-4 (game winning double). Clarke had 3 RBIs, a stolen base and 2 runs scored in Framingham’s 10-0 victory.
Justin Krier was outstanding on the mound pitching 5 innings of shut out baseball for the win 5IP, 6H, 0ER Win (1-1).
In game two against Northbridge, Framingham’s Trevor Smith was dominant as he threw 5 innings of 2-hit baseball with 5 strikeouts and 0ER to help the Framingham Legion team bring their record to 4-3 on the season. It was Smith’s first win of the season.
In the 3rd inning, Mike Gavagan walked and stole two bases, while Andrew Keane would hit a deep fly ball to score Gavagan from third to tie the game at one.
In the 4th inning Jack Matarese would single and score, while Mike Gavagan would drive in Alex Duffy to extend the Framingham lead to 3-1.
Nick Seeto would pick up his third save of the season with two innings pitched giving up four hits and striking out three.
Framingham Legion will host its second double header of the weekend when they face East Side on Sunday, June 23 at 4 and 6 p.m. Bowditch Field.
