It states: FRAMINGHAM, MA – The United States Conference of Mayors’ 87th Annual Meeting will take place June 28-July 1, 2019 in Honolulu, HI. Dr. Yvonne M. Spicer will attend, joining mayors from across the country, and is personally paying for her travel expenses. As inaccurately reported, the City will not be footing the bill for the Mayor’s travel.

Editor’s Note: The report above never mentioned who was paying for the conference. The report said the registration fee was $950 and the mayor was registered. SOURCE then asked additional questions on the Conference and received the following response.

“The City will pay for her $950 registration. The Mayor has no control over where the conference is held. The Mayor will pay for her own hotel, meals and flight expenses.”

“The mayor is never “off.” She can be sick, visiting family or taking a personal day. She is never officially off the clock. She is the Mayor 24 hours a day/7 days a week,”said the City’s spokesperson.
