VIDEO: Burgess Sets School Record; Qualifies for National Track Meet

NORWELL – Framingham High senior captain Ben Burgess broke a school record in the 2-mile on Saturday at the state meet.

His time was 9:25.07 minutes, which gave him a second place finish overall.

The time also qualified Burgess for the all-state meet, as well as the nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina, said head track coach Chris Collins.

“Ben is the happiest ‘gassed’ athlete you could ever talk to at the finish line,” said Collins. “He’s like a dog you run and you think is tired but it looks at you waiting to run again. There is a drive, determination, and work ethic there that I’m not able to put into words. It is an inspiration to see how he works every day.”

Burgess will graduate next Sunday, June 2, and run track at UMass Amherst.
