Superhero Stars To Film In Framingham

FRAMINGHAM – Competing superhero stars will be filing in Framingham this spring.

Earlier SOURCE reported that Captain America star Chris Evans was filming a Paramount TV production in Framingham, this spring.

He filmed inside a Framingham family’s home and also filmed scenes at Danforth Building.

Now, SOURCE has learned that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is also planning to film in Framingham.

Reynolds will be filming a movie tentatively titled Free Guy, in Massachusetts, including scenes in downtown Framingham.

Deadline reported the film focuses on a bank teller (Reynolds) who discovers that he’s a background character in a giant, open-world video game and is the only person capable of saving the planet.

Free Guy is scheduled to be released in summer 2020.

Reynolds is expected to film scenes in Framingham in mid-May.

Evans is filming a TV drama called Defending Jacob, based on William Landay’s 2012 New York Times best-selling novel of the same name.

The project is billed as a character-driven thriller in eight episodes.

The plot revolves around Andy Barber, an assistant district attorney who investigates the slaying of a 14-year-old boy and discovers his teenage son is a suspect.

Filming took part last month in Framingham and in Natick, and is scheduled to happen in Framingham again in May.

Many of the scenes for both productions will be filmed indoors, and some in private locations.

This is not the first time Hollywood has come to Framingham.

In 2017, Daddy’s Home 2 was filming in Framingham.

Stars Mark Walhberg, Mel Gibson, Will Ferrell, and John Lithgow were scene in Nobscot and Saxonville.

Wahlberg has filmed multiple movies in Framingham, including Ted 2 and Patriots Day.
