Jason Miller

Hometown:  Framingham

Marathon Team:  Team Framingham

Is this your first marathon? If not how many? This will be my third marathon. I have previously run Philadelphia in 2015 and Boston in 2017.

Is this your first Boston Marathon?   No, this will be my second Boston (2017).

Why run Boston?  As a kid I always dreamed of running the Boston Marathon. It is the pinnacle of the greatest sports days in Boston. There is a rich tradition of going to the Red Sox game in the morning  then walking down and watching the marathon. To me, it is such an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of this great race again.

Which charity are you raising money for? Jeff’s Place

Why did you pick that charity? The minute I heard about Jeff’s Place and their mission I knew that was the charity I had to run for. Most people don’t realize one out of twenty kids will experience the loss of a parent or sibling before the age of 18. That to me is an amazing statistic and why I am raising as much money as possible to support Jeff’s Place and the great programs they provide.

How did you first get into running? I first got into running when my kids were young and it was the quickest way I could get a workout. Ironically, I used to hate running!

Why do you like to run? I enjoy the time on the road or trail to just let my mind wander and this is where I do some of my best thinking both professionally and personally.

Tell me something about your training for the marathon: I have found that running in a group is way more fun to get the miles in than by yourself.

What is your favorite cross-training activity: Biking.

How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run? Honestly, my family is my biggest support system and constantly pushing me to do my best. On my long runs, I always think about the family that I am paired with at Jeff’s Place! I think of everything they have been through and they constantly give me inspiration and motivation to get every single mile in on my runs.

Music or no music when Running? If music, favorite song? Marathon Talk Podcast all the way!

What is your favorite pre-running meal?  Pam Spain’s (my mother-in-law) Taco Pasta the night before. Oatmeal and banana the morning of a long run.

What shoes will you wear on Marathon day? New Balance Fresh Foam.

What is your goal for the 2019 Boston Marathon? To have an awesome run, get lots of high fives, finish under 6 hours, and most importantly have fun!

Will you wear anything personal or symbolic the day of the 2019 Boston Marathon? I will more than likely wear my GFRC shirt and my kids names will be on my bib! My wife’s name will be on the sides of my shoes as she is my number one supporter.
