Marathon Team: Team Framingham

Is this your first marathon? This is my first marathon!

Is this your first Boston Marathon? This is my first Boston Marathon!

Why run Boston? Growing up, I spent every Patriot’s Day at Heartbreak Hill. I always dreamed of running Boston in the future. I am so lucky to be running while I am also attending college in Boston.

Which charity are you raising money for? Framingham Adult ESL Plus (MWESL Fund)

Why did you pick that charity? Of all of the things that make Framingham a great city, I am most proud of its diversity. The MWESL Fund provides vital education to people from all backgrounds. Through ESL and citizenship test prep classes, more people can find success and belonging in our community.

How did you first get into running? I come from a family of runners. As a freshman in high school, I joined the track and field team. I have been running long-distance since then.

Why do you like to run? I sleep better, think more clearly, and feel more motivated in other aspects of life.

Tell me something about your training for the marathon: I do most of my training runs in Boston, Allston, Cambridge, and Brookline.

What is your favorite cross-training activity: I don’t do much cross-training, but I like to go for long walks after a particularly difficult run.

How do you stay motivated when you don’t want to run? I imagine my high school track coach, John Sullivan, cheering for me across Bowditch Field.

Music or no music when Running? If music, favorite song? Music for sure. “Swervin” by A Boogie.

What is your favorite pre-running meal? Peanut butter and banana toast.

What shoes will you wear on Marathon day? ASICS Gel-Nimbus 18

What is your goal for the 2019 Boston Marathon? Cross the finish line.

Will you wear anything personal or symbolic the day of the 2019 Boston Marathon? I will be wearing red to represent my school, Boston University.
