UPDATED: Weather Service Issues High Wind Warning For Monday

UPDATED: At 7 p.m. the National Weather Service extended the warning until 1 a.m. on Tuesday.


NORTON – The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for the Massachusetts coast and MetroWest for Monday.

The alert was issued at 4 a.m. today, Feb. 24 for Monday, Feb. 25 from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Winds will be from the west at 20 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour.

Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.

Widespread power outages are expected.

A High Wind Warning is issued when sustained winds of 40 mph are expected for at least one hour, with gusts of 58 mph or greater at any time.

Damage to trees, power lines, and property are possible with winds of this magnitude. Power outages are likely.

Take action to secure loose outdoor objects.
