Jake Silver, 18, Ashland High Graduate

ASHLAND – Jake Silver, from Ashland passed away at home on February 22, 2019, two days before his 19th birthday after a 3 year battle with Osteosarcoma. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Jake was born on February 24, 2000, and is survived by his loving mother Melissa (Rothschild) Duca, his stepfather, Anthony Duca, his best friend and sister, Halle Silver, all from Ashland and his father Robert Silver of Southborough, Ma.

Jake was a 2018 graduate of Ashland High School where he was the kicker on the football team before he was diagnosed with cancer his sophomore year. Jake loved sports and wanted to be a sports announcer but also loved animals and weather and could give you a lesson on any of those subjects. Jake brought the entire community of Ashland together along with surrounding towns and states. He taught many it isn’t about the cards you are dealt rather how you play them.

In addition to his immediate family, Jake is also survived by his Maternal Grandparents Francine Shogel and Steve Crapser of Ashland, Ma and Stephen, and Carol Rothschild Knoxville Tn. He is predeceased by his Paternal Grandparents David and Lois (Finberg) Silver of Framingham, MA. His Uncles and Aunts, Adam and Susan Rothschild of Stowe, Vt and Brian and Carol Silver of Needham, Ma along with cousins Ben, Anna, Zack, and Molly.

Jake also had many friends who were like family and leaves behind his G-mother Lisa Markowitz of Pleasantville, NY, her husband Ryan and their kids Sadie, Isabel and Isaac, Pinina Collett from Southborough, MA and her daughters Julianna and Francesca and the Tallman Family of Ashland. He also leaves behind his childhood best friend, Joe Marci along with his best friend who never left his side, Abell Veguilla both from Ashland. His other close friends that made his life great were Kaleigh, Bella, Nathan, Courtney, Livi, Lexi, Erika, and the whole Kane family

Calling hours (Shiva) will be at Jake’s house 7 Chickering Lane, Ashland and will begin on Monday, February 25th and go through Thursday, February 28th from 12-2 pm and then again from 6-8 pm daily. Friday, March 1st Shiva will be from 1- 4 pm.
