METHUEN – Framingham wrestling senior captain Matt Noah finished fourth at the Division 1 state meet on Saturday.
Noah’s finish at 160 pounds qualified him for the all-state meet.
Framingham sent nine wrestlers to the two-day state meet in Methuen.
“Matt placed 4th in a very competitive weight class. Matt continues to wrestle at a high pace which wears his opponents down,” said head coach Erik Delehanty. “To make the consolation finals he had to beat a kid he’s previously has beaten two times this season. To beat a quality opponent 3 times is tough to accomplish and he got it done.”
Framingham senior Seth Martin finished seventh at the Division 1 state meet. His finish qualifies him as an alternate for the all-state meet.
“We’re extremely happy about how Seth performed this weekend. We knew all year he had the potential to place,” said coach Delehanty. “For him to earn a 3-1 win to earn top 8 honors and then to finish with a big win in the 7/8th match which could end up being the last match of his career is something he can be proud of.”
Delehanty saidn Martin “won his matches by being patient and staying in good position. Seth stays basic but basics even at this high of a level win you matches.”
Senior captain “Danilo Da Silva and junior Nick Crotty were both 1 win away from placing in the top 8,” said Delehanty.
