FRAMINGHAM – An Uber driver from Holliston charged with sexually assaulting a passenger was released by a judge on $3,000 cash bail, after entering a plea of not guilty today, Feb. 11, in Framingham District Court.
The woman told Ashland police she was getting a ride to work on Friday afternoon around 3:30 p.m., when she was propositioned for sex, by the Uber driver.
“During the ride, the suspect allegedly propositioned the victim and offered her $100 for sex. When the victim refused, the suspect allegedly put his hand between the victim’s legs and sexually assaulted her, and he later put the victim’s hand between his legs,” said police.
Uber helped police identify the driver through the woman’s Uber app. Uber has banned Arevalos-Avalos from its app.
Arevalos-Avalos was arrested around 11 p.m. Friday.
The woman sat in the front seat of the car. Police advise women not to sit in the front seat of transportation vehicles, like Uber. LYFT, etc.
