9 Framingham Wrestlers Qualify For States; Flyers Finish Third at Sectionals

NEWTON – Framingham High’s wrestling team competed in the Division 1 Central Sectional meet on Saturday,a nd finished third.

Franklin won the meet, and Bay State Conference champion Brookline High finished second overall at Newton South High School.

Framingham senior captain Matt Noah won an individual sectional wrestling title at 160 pounds. He has only lost one match all season.

Wrestlers who placed in the top four at sectionals qualified for states. Wrestlers who placed fifth or sixth are alternates to the state competition.

Framinibgham senior Seth Martin, at 195 pounds, and sophomore Pat Quigley, at 152 pounds, finished second at sectionals.

Flyer sophomores Nolan Zigmont, at 106 pounds, and Matt Chalmers, at 120 pounds, finished third yesterday.

Senior captains Danillo SaSilva, at 145 pounds, and Rony Henandez at 182 pounds, finished fourth at sectionals. Junior Nick Crotty at 170 pounds and freshman Marcus O’Brien at 132 pounds also finished in fourth place to qualify for the state competition.

The Flyers qualified two alternate wrestlers for the state meet. They were senior Ben Chapman and Shawn Ashe.

The Division 1 State meet is at Methuen High on Friday, Feb. 15 starting at 3 p.m.
