PHOTOS & VIDEO: Framingham Wresting Tournament Renamed Balboni Classic For 40th Season

FRAMINGHAM – For 39 years, Framingham High has hosted a holiday wrestling tournament.

This December, the 40th Annual Tournament will be renamed to the Dan Balboni Holiday Classic Tournament.

Last night, before the Framingham vs Natick wrestling match, the Flyers honored former coach Dan Balboni.

Balboni was head coach for the Framingham High wrestling program from 1979 to 1995. The Flyers won the state title in 1994. Balboni was also an assistant coach for the Flyers from 1976-to 1979 and again from 2007-2013.

In April, the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame will induct Balboni into the Hall of Fame for lifetime service.

Balboni won four sectional titles and four Bay State Conference titles as head coach,

Framingham Wrestling is celebrating it 50th year.

There is a movement to bring back the youth program to the City of Framingham.

And the Flyers defeated Natick High last night, too.
