BOSTON – The Framingham High Dance Team captured first place in their first competition this winter season today, February 3.
The Flyers took first place in their division in the hip hop category at Emmanuel College.
” This team’s resilience continues to amaze me. Despite last minute set backs, they came together and fought hard for the top spot at this competition,” aid head coach Angela Rodriguez. “Their genuine bond and compassion for one another truly showed this past weekend.”
Next up for the Flyers is the Bay State Conference competition Monday, February 11 at 6:30 p.m.
“We had a quick turnaround time in terms of learning the choreography and putting it on the competition floor. We had a little over a month to learn and perfect the routine before our first competition. We still have lots of work to do for our upcoming competitions to continue to improve this routine, and we are excited to put an even better version out there at Bay States,” said Rodriguez.
The award-winning routine was choreographed by Jackie McAninch, a former Boston University dance team alumni like coach Rodriguez.
The team is lead by junior tri-captains Ivy-Jolie Camacho, Jonalys Peña, and Alex Cahn.
Other members of the squad are Izzy Testiler, Gabby Branco, Gabriella Bortolotti, Jessie Faulk, João Coelho, Scatlyn Dardompre, Ritika Mittal, Bopha Peng, Isabela Solha-Cruz, Liz McElwain, Louisa Idzal, Madelyn Rose, Maggy McEnaney, Courtney Glazer, and Vivian Gao.
