WEYMOUTH – Host Weymouth High defeated the Framingham High wrestling team Wednesday night, 39-33.
“We went into Weymouth battling some injuries and sickness not to take anything away from Weymouth, but their wrestlers competed and wanted it more then our team,” said head coach Erik Delehanty. “It was disappointing but we know the goal is to peak at the end of the season and have everyone back in our lineup healthy.”
Framingham is now 8-6 overall.
Nick Crotty at 160 pounds was the highlight of the night, said Delehanty.
“He got the opportunity to wrestle in the varsity lineup and he seized his moment, and kept our team close with a big win over one of their better wrestlers,” said Delehanty.
“Shawn Ashe at 220 (pounds) also delivered with a big pin to make us tie the match giving us a chance to still win late in the dual” meet, said Delehanty.
Next up for the Flyers is another away meet at Needham High on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The Flyers will host the Rebels of Walpole High on the 23rd at 6 p.m.
