Framingham Destroys Newton North 60-6

NEWTON – The Framingham high wrestling team destroyed the Tigers of Newton North on Wednesday night in Newton, to go 7-3 on the season.

Senior captain won his match to remain undefeated this season at 21-0, said head coach Erik Delehanty.

Six wrestlers won by pin for the Flyers, including senior captain Danillo Da Silva at 145 pounds.

“Danillo is also having a very solid season to date,” said his coach. “He is coming off a 3rd place finish at the Chelmsford invitational tournament in a tough bracket. “

Other pin wins for the Flyers were Gui Mendes at 113 pounds, Josue Bulux at 126 pounds, Marcus O’Brien at 132 pounds, Reece LaChance at 182 pounds, and Shawn Ashe at 220 pounds.

Flyers Dante Marino (138 pounds), Patrick Quigley (152), Nick Crotty (160), and Seth Martin (195) all won their matches against the Tigers.

“Currently, captain Mike Skinnion is out with an injury but hope to get him back on the mats by the end of the month,” said Delehanty. “Mike has been nothing short of an excellent leader, even when sidelined with an injury. He’s been a huge help so far even if it’s not on the mat.”

The Flyers don’t have a meet at home until January 23 at 6 p.m. against the Rebels of Walpole High. The Flyers only have three home meets all season.

Next up for the Flyers is a quad meet on Saturday at Algonquin Regional against Algonquin, Franklin High, and West Springfield.
