FRAMINGHAM – Eugenia A. “Janie” (Brovelli) Bratica, 100, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at her home.
She was the daughter of Italian immigrants the late Frank & Emilia (Basoli) Brovelli, and was the loving wife of the late Charles C. Bratica for 71 years.
Janie was a 1937 graduate of Framingham High School, and later attended secretarial school.
She served as a nurse’s aid during WWII for the American Red Cross. Janie worked for 40 years in quality control with Telechron which later became GE.
She was a parishioner at St. Bridget’s Church, and a member of The Young at Heart’s, The Silver Grey’s, and was proudly an original member of the Framingham Heart Study.
She and Charles loved to travel especially to Italy and Hawaii.
Janie is survived by her niece, Carol (Hall) Browning & her husband Bob of Oxford, PA, her nephews, Kenny Hall & his wife Peggy of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Larry Hall of Wilmington, DE, 11 grand nieces and nephews and their spouses, 21 great grand nieces and nephews, and 7 great great grand nieces and nephews, as well as several generations of dear cousins. Besides her husband Charles, Janie was predeceased by her sister, Elsie Hall, and her niece, Mary (Hall) Stroud.
Janie’s family would like to offer a special thank you to her caregiver, Michelle Leone for the past 2 ½ years, as well as Joanna, Melissa, Blanca, and Diana who also took great care of Janie.
Family and friends will honor and remember Janie’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St.Framingham on Saturday, January 5 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.
Her Funeral Mass will follow in St. Bridget’s Church, 830 Worcester Rod, Route 9 east, at 10 a.m.
Interment in St. Tarcisius Cemetery.
