METHUEN – Led by freshman Nicole Moran, the Framingham High girls basketball team won its second game of the year tonight, Dec. 28, in a close contest against Methuen High, on the road.
The Flyers defeated the Rangers of Methuen High 38-36.
Moran registered another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. She had 11 points and 17 rebounds in the Flyers loss on Saturday.
“Nicole has been playing outstanding for us these past few games,” said head coach Kristen Audet-Fucarile.
“She had four, 3-pointers and helped us start off with a 23-13 lead going into halftime,” said the coach after the game.
Ryleigh LaChance had a solid game, said the coach, scoring 9 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.
“We had a tough third quarter, where we almost went scoreless,” said Audet-Fucarile. “If it wasn’t for our senior Amy Phalen who hit a three, as time ran out.”
The coach said a lot of players contributed to the 2-point victory.
“Seven of the 9 players scored,” she said. “We are low on numbers, and everyone went to work on defense. Our defense is creating a physical atmosphere for these determined young women.”
The Flyers are now 2-4 this season, under head coach Audet-Fucarile.
Next up is another road game on Monday, Dec. 31 at Wayland High at 1 p.m.
