NATICK – The Town of Natick started advertising for an assistant comptroller on Monday, Dec. 24.
Applications for the Finance Department position will be accepted through January 20 2019 at midnight.
The individual would be “responsible for supporting the Comptroller with planning controlling, and directing the financial programs and internal auditing and financial reporting functions of the Town of Natick.”
The position assists with closing the books on a monthly basis, including posting journal entries, posting cash receipts, reconciling various types of general ledger accounts and tracking fixed assets.
The position is responsible for auditing revenues, monitoring fund and budgetary activity, and reporting balances to various Departments, Boards and Committees.
The person in this position is also the lead in preparing for the annual audit and interacting with the external auditors.
The position reports directly to the Comptroller.
The qualified candidate must have exceptional interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with other departments and officials at all levels of the organization. Must be willing and able to train staff on proper procedures and act as a back-up for various functions in the Comptroller’s, or other accounting staff absence.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field. In addition, he/she must have a minimum of three to five years of municipal budgetary and accounting experience.
The position requires a strong knowledge of municipal finance laws and state reporting requirements, including Department of Revenue year-end reports.
