AAA: Gas Prices Fall In Time For Christmas; But Prices in Massachusetts 25 Cents Higher Than National Average

FRAMINGHAM – Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are down 2 cents this week, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham, off Route 9.

AAA’s December 24 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.57 per gallon.

The Massachusetts price is 25 cents higher than the national average for regular unleaded of $2.32.

A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 9 cents lower at $2.48. 

AAA expects 4.1 million New Englanders will travel by vehicle this holiday, which is a four percent increase year-over-year. 

With precipitation in the forecast for Christmas Eve, AAA encourages drivers to be aware of black ice on roadways and buckle up.
