NATICK – The Natick High girls indoor track team defeated Braintree 76-24 at the Reggie Lewis Center on Thursday, Dec. 20.
It was the first win of the season for the Red Hawks, who are now 1-1.
There were a couple of Red Hawks who had the best times of the day in all of the Bay State Conference.
Natick was extremely strong in the field events.
Natick senior Kassidy Gallagher won the shot put event with a throw of 33-feet and 5 inches. It was a personal record for her. Braintree finished second with a throw of 32 feet 10.5 inches. Natick junior Gabbie Pagnini finished third with a throw of 32 feet and one-quarter inch.
Natick swept the high jump event, with sophomore Julia Leavey winning the event with a leap of 4 feet, 5 inches. Senior Sophia Gastaldo was second at 4-3 and sophomore Emily Arthur was third with a personal best 4-feet, 3 inches.
The Red Hawks also swept the long jump event. Junior Camilla Samuel won the event with a leap of 14-feet, 6.25 inches. Senior Alexandra Campana finished second with a personal best 14-feet, 2-inch leap. Senior Hailey Kilroy finished third.
Natick won both relays. The Red Hawks had the fastest time in the Conference on Thursday in the 4 by 200 relay. The time was 1:50.54 minutes.
The Red Hawks swept the hurdle event. Sophomore Sophia Kovatsis won the event in 9.91 seconds. Senior Sophia Gastaldo was second and sophomore Julia Leavey was third in a personal record at 10.41 seconds.
Sophomore Katherine Connolly won the 1 mile race in a personal record of 5:18.84 minutes. It was the best time by any Bay State Conference runner in the event by almost 4 seconds. Natick also took third place.
In the 2-mile race, Emily Cochi finished first in 12:44.24 minutes. Braintree freshman Lauren Durant finished second, and Natick freshman Ella Sheidley finished third 12:16.10 minutes, a personal record.
Natick finished 1-2 in the 1,000-meter race. Junior Caroline Fleming finished first in 3:08.70 minutes, a personal record. Sophomore Mary Dougherty finished second in 3:18.87 minutes, a personal record.
Sophomore Nicole Frail won the 600-meter race. She had the fastest time of all Bay State Conference runners in 1:40.49 minutes, a personal record. Braintree finished second, with Red Hawk sophomore Emma Forde taking third place
Braintree senior Katherine O’Brien won the 300-meter race in 44.04 seconds. Natick junior Kylie Langan captured second place in 44.53 seconds. Braintree sophomore Molly Joyce was third.
Natick senior Abigail Gerdes won the 55-meter dash in 7.32 seconds. It was the fastest time on the track for girls in all of the Bay State Confencence on Thursday.
