BOSTON – The Framingham High boys indoor track team opened the season with a loss against the Tigers of Newton North High School at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston yesterday, Dec. 13.
The Tigers defeated the Flyers 77-22.
Framingham finished 1-2 in the dash.
Senior Nick Seeto won the race in 6.86 seconds. Senior Jon Lam had a personal best 6.96 seconds to finish second.
The Tigers swept the hurdles event with junior Otis Love, winning the race in 8.02 seconds. Framingham’s top competitor Josh Halberstadt finished fourth with a personal record 9.72 seconds.
Senior Ben Burgess was the fastest on the track yesterday in the 2-mile for all of the Bay State teams. He also took first place in the meet against Newton North. His time of 9:41.44 minutes was a personal record for him.
Junior Alexander Thurber finished third in the mile event with a personal record 5:07.99 minutes.
Framingham senior Vasan Prabakaran won the high jump competition at 5 feet and 6 inches.
The Tigers finished 1-2 in the long jump competition. Prabakaran captured third place for Framingham with a leap of 18 feet and 1 inch.
Newton North took the top four spots in the shot put competition, although he earned no points for the team senior Chidi Nna had a personal best in the event with a throw of 39 feet and 6.5 inches.
The Tigers swept the 1,000-meter race.
Newton finished 1-2 in the 600-meter race. Senior Kevin Braganca captured third with a person best 1:32.22 minutes.
The Tigers again finished 1-2 in the 300-meter event. Senior Jon Riley finished third at 41.04 seconds.
