BOSTON – The Brookline High Warriors edged out Natick High’s girls indoor track team in the season opener at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston this afternoon.
The Warriors won 51-49.
Senior Grace Connolly easily won the 2-mile race in 10:18.73 minutes. Brookline captured second and third place.
Natick swept the mile race. Sophomore Mary Dougherty won the race in a personal best 5:28.99 minutes. Junior Caroline Fleming finished second with sophomore Emma Forde third.
Abigail Gerdes won the dash in 7.18 seconds. It was a personal record for the Natick senior. Red Hawk junior Ashley Warren finished third in 8.02 seconds.
Natick won the 4 X 200 relay in 1:50.18 minutes.
Brookline won the 4 X 400 relay in 4:21.02 minutes.
Sophomore Jami Chamerlain won the hurdles in 8.94 seconds for Brookline. Natick finished second and third. Junior Sophia Kovatsis was second in 9.91 seconds and Sophia Gastaldo was third in 10.05 seconds.
Senior Kassid Gallagher won the shot put in 31 feet and 1 inch for Natick.
Brookline’s Lara Moukaddem won the high jump with a leap of 4 feet and 10 inches. Natick’s Gastaldo was second in 4 feet and 8 inches. Sophomore Julia Leavey finished third with a personal record of 4 feet and 6 inches for the Red Hawks.
The Warriors swept the long jump.
Brookline’s Katherine O’Brien won the 300-meter race in 43.57 seconds. Natick’s Lylie Langan finished second in 44.94 seconds. Freshman Catie O’Neill finished third in 45.36 seconds.
Nicole Frail won the 600-meter race for Natick in a personal record time of 1:44.12 minutes for the Red Hawks. The Warriors took second and third place.
Junior Paige Edwards finished third in the 1,000-meter race for Natick.
