FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham High boys basketball team won its season opener Tuesday night.
The Flyers defeated Burncoat High School out of Worcester 74-60
“Burncoat came out very aggressive and we weren’t making shots,” said head coach Jason Gosselin. “Burncoat took a 22-14 halfway through the second quarter. We switched to our full court press and we were able to force some turnovers which allowed us to get some transition opportunities, made shots, and closed the 2nd quarter on a 22-8 run.”
Framingham headed into the locker room with a 36-30 lead.
“Great game for our group overall,” said Gosselin. “We played a little tight with it being the first game of the season but settled in as the game went on. Plenty of things to improve on, but good to win the first game of the season.”
Senior Victor Carrillo led the Flyers with 21 points. He scored five 3-pointers in the victory, said Gosselin.
Senior captain Matt Fonseca scored 13 points in the win.
Senior Romeo Horsley and junior Sam Whiting also each scored 13 points last night.
The boys will host the Wildcats of Milton High Friday, Dec. 14 at 6;30 p.m.
