FRAMINGHAM -Eleanor M. (Gray) Gonfrade, 82, a lifelong Framingham resident, died Tuesday December 4, 2018, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Margaret (Coyne) Gray, and the beloved wife of Richard C. Gonfrade.
A 1954 Framingham High School graduate, she married her classmate Richard in Hawaii where he was stationed in the Army, and they started their family there. Together they raised their family in Framingham. Eleanor was a kind, patient and caring mother. She was known to always have a smile on her face and was loved and respected by so many.
Eleanor, “Ellie” to friends, had many hobbies and skills over the years that she enjoyed greatly, her latest was her interest in collecting orchids, caring for them and her great ability to rebloom them.
In addition to her husband of over 60 years Richard, she is also survived by her children, R. Scott of Milford, Jon David of Nantucket, Sue Ellen Delcourt of Nantucket & Marstons Mills, and Paola Anne of Nantucket & Palm Beach, FL, her granddaughter Kaitlyn, her sister Carolyn Gray, many nieces, nephews, friends and her trusted caregiver Kathi Hamilton. She was predeceased by her infant son Joseph Charles, and her siblings, Marguerite Haggerty, Jack Gray, and Clement Gray.
Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham on Saturday, December 15, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Stephen’s Church, 251 Concord St. at 10 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.
