Dupcak, Yan, and Lu Double Winners in Flyers Season Opener

WORCESTER – The Framingham High boys swim & dive team won its season opener on the road today, December 11.

The Flyers defeated St. John’s of Shrewsbury easily at the College of the Holy Cross.

The final score was 101-76.

Framingham started the meet with a win the medley relay. Flyers Chance Yan, Justin Lu, Shawn Lafontain, and J.J. Dupak won the race.

Framinham finished 1-2 in the 200-yard freestyle. Leon Kisler won the race for Framingham with Mason Matzker captured second place. Tom Morrison from St. John’s finished third in 2:11.47 minutes. Jack Landsiedel finished fifth to earn point for Framingham. After two events Framingham was ahead 21-9.

Lu won the individual medley for Framingham. St. John’s swimmers Chris Mucci and Jack Coleburn finished second and third. Flyers Matt Mazariegos and Bryce Casey finished fourth and fifth. After three events Framingham was ahead 30-16.

There was a tie for first place in the 50-yard dash between Dupak and St. John’s swimmer Josh Ahrens. LaFontain finished third and senior Talon Hayes was fourth. Framingham had a 40-22 lead headed into the diving competition.

St. John’s of Shrewsbury had no divers.  Framingham’s Derek Carl won the event, with Flyer Scot Spindler finishing second.

Framingham senior Lu won the 100-yard butterfly event.

St. John’s Coleburn finished second in 1:03.72 minutes. Flyers LaFountain and Jake Benoit finished third and fourth in the event.

Framingham’s Yan won the 100-yard freestyle. St. John’s Aherns finished second in 54.2 seconds. Framingham’s Ronin Wong was third, with Hayes fourth.

Dupcak, who tied for first in the sprint event of the meet, won the distance event -the 500-yard freestyle for the Flyers. Mucci finished second for Shresbury in 5:48.30 minutes. St. John’s swimmer Morrison took third place in 5;49.56 minutes. FlyerMazariegos took fourth place

Framingham won the sprint relay with swimmers Dupcak, Yan, Kisler, and Tristan Wilcox.

Matzker and Kisler finished 1-2 in the backstroke for Framingham. Casey picked up points for the Flyers in the 100-yard backstroke.

The Flyers swept the 100-yard breaststroke event. Yan finished first, senior Joey Fintonis was second, and Max Moskalenko was third.

Framingham won the final event of the meet – the 400-yard relay. Swimmers Kisler, Lu, Wilcox, and Lafontain won the event.
